About Codemonk

Eight years, three founders, one team that builds what it ships.

Codemonk is an AI-native product engineering firm based in Bengaluru. Here's who we are, how we got here, and how we work.

Codemonk was started by Suhas Ranganath, Ashwin M J and Akshay Kumar C — three engineers who'd each spent years building for other people's roadmaps. Suhas came from a hardware background at Seagate, Ashwin from applied ML research at IISc, and Akshay from running large enterprise application delivery at Accenture. None of them had built a company before; all three had opinions about how software gets built badly.

The original brief was narrower than “AI-native product engineering.” Codemonk started as a design-and-engineering-centric team taking on full-cycle product builds — the kind of work that needed people who could design, engineer, and ship without an account manager in between. That's still true of how client relationships work today.

What changed is the work itself. As computer vision and applied ML moved from research papers to something enterprises could actually deploy, the team's applied-research background put Codemonk in a position most product-engineering shops weren't: able to take on an OCR pipeline, a safety-monitoring system, or a document-intelligence project with the same rigor as a mobile app. That's the shift from a design-and-engineering studio to an AI-native engineering firm, and it happened through client work, not a rebrand.

Codemonk has since grown to a team of 100+ across engineering, applied ML, and product design, working with 80+ clients including Unilever, Tata Power, and Skylark Drones — and building VisionOS, a computer-vision platform the team operates itself.

Our journey

The Start
2018–2019

First enterprise wins. First proof of trust.

  • Landed our first Fortune 500 client: Unilever
  • Early enterprise adoption: IndiaMart, Fyle, GreytHR
  • Worked with Stanford; delivered our first government project
Momentum & Scale
2020–2021

Crossed double digits. Delivered across industries.

Acquired by Infibeam
  • Scaled to 15+ active clients across SaaS, fintech, healthcare & EVs
  • Trusted by Licious, Tata Trusts, Appsmith, Euler Motors, Plum
  • A product we built was acquired by Infibeam — our first exit
Depth & Delivery
2022–2023

People, process, and long-term capability.

  • Tripled team size to support larger, longer-term programs
  • Delivered complex systems for large enterprises and global institutions
  • Strengthened internal engineering, delivery, and review processes
Global & Strategic
2024 → Now

International markets. Long-term partnerships.

  • Entered Japan with Kawada, one of the country's largest construction firms
  • Long-term, recurring collaborations with global industry leaders
  • Building large-scale, mission-critical systems across industries

The team

100+ engineers, researchers and designers, one floor in Bengaluru.

We're organized around disciplines, not titles — applied ML and computer vision engineers, full-stack and platform engineers, and product designers, working in small pods rather than a large bench. Most people here have shipped more than one production system; a fair number came from research backgrounds before Codemonk, not from agencies.

How we work

Small pods, direct access, no account layer.

Every engagement — whether it's a computer-vision pipeline or an internal ops platform — runs the same way.

01

Discovery

We scope the actual problem, not the RFP — data, constraints, and what success looks like in production.

02

Design

Product design and technical architecture in parallel, not sequence. Prototypes you can react to within weeks.

03

Build

A dedicated pod — usually 3–6 people spanning design, engineering and ML — embedded with your team, not rotating through us.

04

Ship

Working software in your environment, integrated with what you already run. We don't hand off a deck.

05

Scale

Monitoring, retraining, and iteration once it's live — most engagements continue well past the first release.

Who you talk to

You work directly with the engineers and designers on your project — not a separate account manager relaying messages.

Team structure

Dedicated pods, sized to the project. We don't staff by the bench — the same people stay on from kickoff to production.

Project length

Engagements range from a focused 6–8 week build to multi-year platform partnerships — several clients have stayed with us for years.

How we think

Four things that actually guide the work.

01

We build like it's our own.

Projects aren't “client work” to us. We treat every system, product, and decision as if it were our own product in the market — something we stand behind, defend, and feel proud of.

02

Radical clarity in communication.

We operate on clear, direct, and realistic communication — internally and externally. No overpromising, no ambiguity: everyone involved knows exactly what we're building, why, and what success looks like.

03

Decisions driven by data, not assumptions.

We don't guess. We measure. Every decision is grounded in real usage, real numbers, and real outcomes. When something breaks, we focus on understanding the why before jumping to the how.

04

Building for impact and the future.

We don't build for short-term wins or legacy patterns. We build systems meant to last and evolve, with curiosity, learning, and long-term impact at the core of every decision.
